Zubeida Malik

Zubeida Malik is a British-Pakistani Journalist, Broadcaster, and Radio Presenter who was one of the first reporters to enter Pakistan after 11th September, 2001, and the World Trade Center Attacks, where she interviewed Mullah Zaeef of the Taliban and reported on the war from Afghanistan for the BBC.
In 2002, after her EMMA honour, Zubeida won Media Personality of the Year at the Asian Women of Achievement Awards and was voted one of the Good Housekeeping Role Models in 2004.
As a reporter on BBC’s Newsnight in 2004, Zubeida had one of few interviews with the parents of Shafilea Ahmed, who were found guilty and later jailed for her murder. That same year, she led an investigation into Female Genital Mutilation, which was a subject rarely discussed around the world at the time.
Zubeida has written several opinion pieces for Inews.co.uk, has written for The Times, Red Box and is an outstanding freelance journalist, who has been sought after by many media publications.
Background (Before 2001 & 2002)
Zubeida Malik joined the BBC in 1994 and worked on Radio 4’s Flagship News Today Programme for 18 years, reporting from Pakistan, Afghanistan, Nigeria, Saudi Arabia, Northern Ireland, Israel, and Gaza.
Zubeida’s reportage included stories around the world and in the UK, such as the murder of Damilola Taylor and several high-profile Terrorism trials.
Zubeida has reported on Osama Bin Laden and Al-Qaeda since the 1990s and was one of the first journalists to investigate extremist groups that held secret military training camps and encouraged young men to become jihadis.
