Shiulie Ghosh

Shiulie Ghosh is a British TV journalist and author who joined Al Jazeera English as a news presenter in 2006. She was the opening anchor for the station’s launch in Doha on 15 November that same year and left in 2015. Shiulie has hosted Every Woman, a show that focused on women’s issues from around the world. As a result, she won the Editor’s Choice Media Excellence Award from the Association of International Broadcasting. After leaving Al Jazeera at the end of 2015, Shiulie set up the media services company, Aero Productions Ltd. Shiulie is currently a conference host, moderator, and freelance presenter for TRT World in London.
Shiulie is also a successful author who has published several books, including the young adult fantasy series Daughter of Kali, the paranormal romance Kingdom of Salt, and the young adult urban fantasy adventure Mark of the Djinn. Shiulie has reported from many conflict and disaster zones around the globe and covered major events such as the 9/11 attacks, the Asian Tsunami, the Arab Spring, the capture of Osama Bin Laden and the death of Nelson Mandela.
Background (Before 2001)
Shiulie Ghosh was born in the UK to a Bengali father and English mother, giving her a mixed-heritage background. She began her broadcasting career as a programme assistant at Radio Cleveland. In 1990, Shiulie was accepted as a BBC News trainee, working in various posts at the corporation until 1998. That same year, Shiulie joined ITV News, becoming a Senior Correspondent and eventually being appointed as a Home Affairs Editor.
